The Pages of Dave.

I thought I'd show you some of my comic book activities. These pages were for a comic I was working on with a writer, it didn't quite work out as planned but that's the way it goes sometimes. The pages are pretty self-explanatory, they weave the simple tale of a Bicycle Cop, named Dave, as he fights crime in a gentrified L.A. With a naked chick thrown in. Just for fun.

The Inescapable Power of Putin.

While I'm at it I thought I'd post a little more work. Some of this has been up before, and later removed, but as I'm seeking employment I thought I'd push my luck and palm it off again.

The unicorn image, as isn't my way of acknowledging a hidden feminine side to my psyche. No, the leg-warmers and fondness for comfortable underwear once a month covers that quite nicely, thank you so very much. It was really another piece I did for my girlfriend to try and appease her insatiable appetite for anything unicorn related. And human blood. (I love you dear).

To re-assert myself as a manly man who pursues manly endeavors such as racing cars, shooting guns, fighting Tiger Woods and his cadre of evil side by side with Vladimir Putin and Robert Downy Jr, I tried my hand at drawing Nazi super villain The Red Skull. Try and guess which one he is. I'll be here when you get back...
Apparently the novelty members of the Nazi party are wearing their ties short this Reich.

I then decided to continue the stream of contrived fan-art that seemed to be working so well for me. This time focusing on The Sentry... Marvels slightly lackluster answer to Superman. Beach blond and clad from head to foot in the universal colour of cowardice, The Sentry is ready, and prepared to run a mile from his problems. And look damn good doing it.

Next I bring to you a quick cartoon of current Doctor Who; Matt Smith. A man with a face seemingly constructed from the severed toes of the elderly and infirm. Their arthritis riddled joints forming the contours and ridges of what, we hope, science can one day prove is truly a human face. I do quite like the drawing though.

Finally, I bring to you something truly remarkable. Work that I actually received financial compensation for. Admittedly this piece is a year or so old now, but I like to keep it around just so that I can remember the times that I actually made money on this artist racket. Oh those halcyon days. The job was simple, draw two pieces of some Marvel superhero's to advertise a guys comic selling website. I'll post the other piece when I can find it on my labyrinth of a hard-drive. I'm particularly happy with Iron Man's armour here. Well apart from his eye-holes.

They suck.

They ssssssuuuuuuuuuccckk.

The rest is pretty good though. And I got paid. So at least on those cold and lonesome nights when the wolves are howling at the door and I wonder just what the hell I'm attempting do with my life, I can look to this piece, and know in my heart of hearts that at least someone, somewhere, wanted to pay me money.

Recent Work.

Here's a few bits and pieces that I've been working on recently. The grumpy looking portrait is a study of my cat Jake. Believe it or not thats his normal expression.
The retro style race car was part of an illustration I did as a present for my Formula 1 obsessive of a father. It was knocked up pretty quick, mostly out of panicky necessity, (not realising how close a birthday is will do that) so its not the neatest thing I've ever produced, but Dad liked it and thats the important thing.
The last image was a piece for my girlfriend as we celebrated our second anniversary. She likes unicorns, she likes my cat...the piece pretty much made itself. Although it could do with a little bit of finishing off...
